Empire Revival Dining Chairs Set of 8

$3,380.00

It’s rare to find a complete set of antique dining chairs and even rarer to find eight that have stayed together and remained in such excellent condition. This stunning set has been in the Ansley family since it was made, dating to the late 1920s–early 1930s.

Crafted of solid mahogany with dramatic flame mahogany veneer backs and subtle saber legs, they are as sturdy today as the day they were built, having been in continuous use until just a few weeks ago. The finish shows only age appropriate wear that adds to their charm and authenticity.

The seats were reupholstered in the 1990s with hand stitched needlepoint, a nod to the traditional upholstery of the original Empire period. Each pair features a different motif — two harps, two trumpets, two violins, and two drums — stitched and initialed by a member of the Ansley family to honor her husband, a singer-songwriter and musician who inherited them through his lineage.

These chairs are offered in their current condition, with their beautiful patina preserved. The needlepoint seats are in excellent condition, but reupholstery is available upon request to suit your style. A truly special opportunity to be the next steward of a complete and storied set of Empire Revival dining chairs.
