19th century Rococo Revival parlor armchair with a carved walnut frame, soft cream upholstery, a tufted back, and a smooth upholstered seat and arm pads. Dating to circa 1860–1880, this chair reflects the Victorian interest in combining decorative craftsmanship with comfortable seating. Upholstered chairs had long been found in wealthy households, but became more widely available during the 19th century.
The walnut frame features a hand carved floral crest. Walnut was a practical choice for furniture makers, offering strength while working well for shaping and detailed carving.
The chair was reupholstered at a later date. The wood finish shows wear consistent with age, and the upholstery has minor wear and markings as shown in the photos. Overall, it is in great condition.
