Antique Davis Cabinet Co Cherry Collectors Twin Bed Frame Set of 2

$2,900.00

If you’re from Tennessee, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Davis Cabinet Company. Founded in Nashville in 1929, Davis built a reputation for producing some of the region’s best quality furniture, blending traditional American craftsmanship with revival styles that kept early American design alive well into the 20th century. By the 1950s, their Collectors lines had become especially popular, designed to reflect the forms of earlier colonial and Federal furniture while using the solid construction and durability that made Davis a household name across the South.

This matching pair of twin beds was manufactured in April of 1957 and has spent its entire life right here in Nashville. What makes that even more special is that this is a true one owner set. We had the opportunity to speak with the original family, and the daughter shared that her mother purchased these beds for her and her sister when they were very young girls. She remembered growing up sharing that bedroom, each with her own matching bed, and laughed telling us how some of her fondest memories were staying up far too late, jumping back and forth between the beds until they heard their mother coming down the hall and quickly getting quiet, pretending to be asleep. It is the kind of story that reminds you furniture is not just furniture. It becomes part of family history.

That history is still here in the form itself. The original headboards, footboards, side rails, and slats have all remained intact and together, preserved in exceptional original condition. That level of completeness is becoming harder to find, especially in a matching set.

That’s the thing about regional furniture makers like Davis. They were not building disposable furniture. They were building pieces meant to stay in families, move through generations, and hold up to everyday life. Nearly 70 years later, these still do exactly that, and because finding a surviving matched pair in this grade of original condition is increasingly uncommon, this set will remain together and will not be separated. These are a great piece of Tennessee furniture history and a reminder that some of the best made furniture in America were often built much closer to home than people realize, and that the best antiques are not just the ones that survive, but the ones that carry the memories of the families who grew up with them.
